What makes a good bakery menu design
A bakery menu sells with pictures. A good design gets out of the way of the baking:
- Large photos, one item at a time, so each cake gets its moment
- A quiet typeface that doesn't compete with the colours of the food
- Sizes and prices close to the photo, so nobody has to ask
- Lots of light, empty space, as in a well-kept display case
- Consistent photos: the same background and angle for every item
Photographing for Atelier
Atelier floats each item on the page, so it looks best with photos taken on a plain, light background from a slight angle, in soft daylight. Shoot every item the same way and the menu will look like one collection. If your bakery also serves coffee, the café templates work well too.
Questions about bakery menu templates
Is there more than one bakery template?
Atelier is the one made for bakeries. Bakeries with a coffee bar often use Minimal Paper or Pastel Morning, which were made for cafés.
Does Atelier work without photos?
It's built around photos, so it shines with them. For a mostly text menu, Minimal Paper is a better choice.
Can I change Atelier's colours?
Yes. Pick an accent colour and switch between light and dark. The layout and type stay as designed.
